Who are the Yup'ik?
In the South Western Region of Alaska, the Yup'ik Tribes reside between Norton Sound and Bristol Bay which is bordered by the Bering Sea coast. This tribe is a descendant of the Yuit people who were the original southern Eskimos and are regarded as the most diversified groups of Alaskan Natives in history. This diversity came with large numbers and expanded their territory, this can be seen with tribes from St. Lawernce island all the way to the North Pacific Coast all being named after different languages that were commonly spoken amount the Yuit. One of these languages was named Yup'ik which lead to the Yup'ik tribe being created.

The region in which the Yup'ik reside is the perfect geological hotspot for all forms of the game. With the region being right in the way of migration routes on both the land and the sea, The Yup'ik are able to hunt moose and caribou on land as well as whales, walruses, seals, and sea lions from the Bering Sea. This gives the Yup'ik more opportunities to catch the game as well as being able to catch enough to sustain their populations through the incredibly harsh winter months. In addition to the migration roots the Yup'ik territory consists of over 100,000 miles of forest which allows for the Yup'ik to forage large quantities of berries, roots, and birds eggs.
